Sleepless Night for Blackout Bingo Winner
(Baltimore) – A 48-year-old contractor tossed and turned Wednesday night and could hardly fall asleep. That’s because sitting not too far from his bedside was a $30,000 winning Blackout Bingo scratch-off ticket.
“It was a rough night,” said Juan Nunez. “I finally had to take a sleeping pill.” The winner bought three Blackout Bingo tickets during the day on Wednesday as he was getting off work. He scratched them all in the store and it was the third ticket that revealed the prize. “I didn’t know what to do,” said Juan. So, he had the cashier confirm the win for him. “I was so excited,” he smiled.
That night proved restless for Juan, but he was able to make it through to claim his prize on Thursday morning. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Juan said he is going to use his winnings towards a trip home, where most of his family still resides. He said he would also treat his son to a trip to Disney and pay some bills.
The winning ticket was purchased at Riggs Grocery located at 5405 Kenilworth Avenue in Riverdale.

From Paper Plates to $250,000
(Baltimore) – When a 59-year-old Worcester County resident was hearing his lucky numbers, he started reaching for anything handy to write the numbers down on. He ended up scribbling the numbers onto a paper plate. He may be trading the paper for fine china after his $250,000 second-tier Mega Millions win.
The lucky winner purchased several Mega Millions tickets on Tuesday for that night’s drawing. Later, at home that evening, he watched the broadcast of the winning numbers, grabbing the plate and writing quickly. “Right away, I checked to see if I matched the Mega Ball on any of my tickets,” said the winner. When he realized that he didn’t, he started checking the rest on his numbers one by one. “The numbers on one of the tickets started matching one after the other,” he said. At that point, I couldn’t even look at any of the other tickets.” When he finished checking, he was $250,000 richer.
The lucky winner plans to use his winnings to help purchase a ranch. The winning ticket was purchased at American Pride located on Racetrack Road in Berlin.

Annapolis Woman Turns $50 Win into $50,000 Top Prize
Baltimore) – When an Anne Arundel County woman stopped by EZ Quick Food Mart to cash a $50 winning scratch-off ticket early Wednesday morning, she never expected to walk out $50,000 richer. After cashing in her winning ticket, the cashier showed her the new 3D Jackpot scratch-off. “I bought four tickets and the first ticket I scratched was the $50,000 winning ticket,” the mother-of-two daughters said. “Once I realized I won, I couldn’t believe it. I asked the cashier to check the ticket and she was more excited than me.”
The winner then called her best friend and her daughters. She asked her one daughter if she could leave work early to take her to claim the winning ticket.
The Sam’s Club bakery employee said, “It finally sank in when I walked into Lottery headquarters.” The 61-year-old said she was going to give the cashier a little gift for suggesting the scratch-off.
Married for 31 years, the grandmother plans to pay off her bills and go back home to Hawaii for a few weeks. “I feel so good,” she said with a grin. The winning ticket was purchased at EZ Quick Food Mart, 229-231 Mountain Road in Pasadena.

Price is Right Winner Hits Jackpot Again
(Baltimore) – Four years ago, Nicholas Derita, won $42,000 in cash and prizes on the Price is Right game show. He was fortunate enough to make it to the showcase and won. Now it’s the Maryland Lottery’s turn to show Nicholas the money.
The 25-year-old paramedic brought a 3D Jackpot scratch-off ticket on Friday and won $50,000, thanks in part to the store cashier. “I just asked for a $5 ticket and the cashier picked 3D Jackpot,” said Nicholas. He scratched the ticket in his ambulance. “I told my partner I thought I won $50,000, but I wasn’t completely sure,” said the lucky player. Later that evening, Nicholas took the ticket back to the store where his win was verified. “I called all my friends and family, it was very exciting,” he said.
Nicholas has two paramedic jobs, one for Harford County and the other, for a private company. He works almost every day. He said because of the $50,000 win, he’ll take some time off and pay some bills.
The winning ticket was purchased at Macphail Exxon located at 600 West Macphail Road in Bel Air.
